Griddy members had a strong week last week, paying 9.1¢/kWh vs. the Texas average of 11.9c/kWh, which is 31% higher!
There were 7 spikes across the state last week, with five on Monday, one on Wednesday morning and one on Friday morning. These spikes can be attributed to cold weather, poor wind generation, and the failure of a natural gas and coal plant. Due to the volatile nature of west Texas, had a more that 7 price spikes. On a brighter note, there was 1.17 hours of negative pricing across the state, with our griddsters out in west Texas experiencing 4 hours of negative pricing.
