Weekly Price Recap: 3/17 - 3/23

Last week, our members averaged 8.8 ₵/kWh while the average Texan paid 11.6 ₵/kWh – that’s 32% higher!!! There were 3 price spikes that all came within the same 45 minutes on Monday morning. They were caused by stronger than expected early morning heating demand combined with weaker than expected wind generation at the same time. But our friends down in South Texas got hit again with a couple hours of price spikes on Tuesday morning, once again caused by congestion on the grid’s transmission lines. And again, the Houston and Dallas areas were unaffected.
