Weekly Price Recap: 3/31-4/6
This week looked a lot like last week! Our members once again averaged 8.5 ₵/kWh while the average Texan paid 11.6 ₵/kWh – that’s 37% higher!!! And once again, there were 4 price spikes this week, none of them lasting more than 5 minutes. All of them were caused by lower than expected wind generation. But as always, gas-fired plants ramped up in response to the high price and quickly brought things back in to balance.
And once again, West Texas had a ton of free and negative priced electricity – 18 hours in fact!
