Weekly Price Recap: 4/14-4/20
Another great Griddy week! Our members averaged 8.3 ₵/kWh while the average Texan paid 11.6 ₵/kWh – that’s 40% higher!!! Only 3 price spikes this week, all three coming on Wednesday and lasting only 5 minutes. They were caused by lower than expected wind generation as well as a gas-fired power plant coming offline in North Texas. But as always, the other gas-fired plants ramped up in response and quickly brought prices back down. And this week, we had almost 6 hours of free and negative-priced electricity, and our lucky friends in West Texas had almost 25 hours!
